A greener tomorrow: Wave’s latest corporate volunteering day in Liverpool

On Wednesday 4 September, we came together with our valued customers to volunteer on the banks of the Mersey at the Festival Gardens, which marked its 30th anniversary this year.

The day, led by the Friends of Festival Gardens, was an opportunity to help the volunteer group keep the gardens open and accessible. This is a considerable task given that it’s a 22-acre site, but the small group along with our volunteers more than made up for their size with their enthusiasm!

Coming together to make positive change

We were joined on the day by customers from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and HM Courts and Tribunal Services as well as another group of local corporate volunteers. Our task on the day was to cut back the undergrowth around some of the features near the play area, widen the paths and reduce the height of some shrubs to make the area safer for the public.

Despite their willingness to brave all conditions the weather was kind to the volunteers, and it only rained over lunchtime. It was extremely rewarding to help the Friends of Festival Gardens reclaim the area from years of neglect due to funding shortcuts, and to improve and add biodiversity to an important green asset in Liverpool.

We’re committed to our Promise

At Wave, our dedication to our people, planet, customers and communities is at the heart of everything we do. Our corporate volunteering events are a key component of our Social & Sustainability Promise. These events not only reinforce our commitments but also provide fantastic opportunities for networking, relationship-building, and enhancing overall wellbeing.

Why attend one of our future events?

Most importantly, you’ll be making a difference. You’ll spend a rewarding day with like-minded people, taking part in organised activities in support of our local wildlife and communities. These events are educational too, providing information about the history of the area. We’ll handle the arrangements, so all you have to do is come along, make friends and get stuck in.

We’re focused on making positive change, so if you’re interested in joining us next time and putting a big tick in your sustainability commitments box, speak to your Account Manager for more information.
